| Virginia
Wright studied at the University of East Anglia, Norwich
where she obtained a first class honours degree in art
and design. Virginia is based in Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk.
She has obtained numerous awards for her work from
organisations and institutions such as the Suffolk Craft
Society and the University College, Suffolk.
Virginia's work is inspired by the warmth and intensity
of the Mediterranean. She uses strong vibrant colour
schemes combined with simple shapes to produce a rustic
impression. Building on this, Virginia has also integrated
different types of metal leaf using geometrical and
linear designs to produce more subtle expressions of
her work while still retaining the rustic fluidity of
the overall shape and texture. The process, which involves
cutting flat pieces of glass and decorating them with
colour and metal, takes many days to complete. |
