| Kieta Jackson
grew up in the South West of England. She attended the
Norwich School of Art where she studied textile art.
Her work has been influenced by the sea and the weather
worn objects that surround the seascape. The techniques
used involve a combination of weaving, crochet, binding
and layering of copper wire to create vessels that are
evocative of fishing nets, lobster pots and basket fish
traps.
Not only is Kieta concerned with their basic structures,
but the fact that they can trap, hold and contain. Influenced
by the corrosive impact of the sea, she applies chemical
solutions onto areas of her work, to create rusts and
verdigris along with heating and beating to distress
the work further. |
