After a successful career with British Telecom Ian Marshall decided to follow a more creative path. On a part-time basis he began work designing and making furniture but soon realised that he needed to produce more creative pieces.

He seized the opportunity to take a foundation course at Camberwell College, where he was introduced to metalwork. This led him to study for a degree in Silversmithing and Metalwork at Camberwell College of Arts in London.

Since leaving college with a first class degree he has continued to develop his metalwork. The last two years have been spent working at a forge one or two days a week producing a range of objects, mostly sculptural.
