Hazel
M. Spencer was born in Surbiton, England in 1945 and
studied at Chelsea School of Art, London (1962-63).
She continued her art education at Liverpool Regional
College of Art and graduated in Fine Art Painting in
1967.
She obtained an Art Teachers Diploma at the same college
in 1968.
Hazel combined painting with art teaching until 2000
and now concentrates full-time on painting. Since 1989
she has been a member of the Norwich 20 Group and the
Women’s Art Library.
Her work has included abstract paintings on themes
of sexuality, birth and fertility with autobiographical
references and mixed media constructed textiles inspired
by fertility in nature. |
