Hans Signer
has been a photographer for over 20 years and has travelled
widely during that time. Cities, and particularly the
great American metropolises of New York, Chicago, Los
Angeles and San Francisco, have always been of particular
interest to him and have inspired some of his most emotive
work. A recurring theme has been the often uncertain
relationship between cities and the busy people who
bring them to life.
In viewing Signer’s work the paintings of Edward
Hopper and the dark, shadowy world of film noir spring
to mind. It comes as no surprise that Hans Signer has
a burning passion for film noir movies.
Until recently Signer’s photographs have remained
largely undiscovered private treasures.
