Oliver Dungey was born in 1951 and is a graduate of the well respected London art school Goldsmiths, where he studied under such names as Albert Irvin and Basil Beattie. He is now an active member of the exciting artistic community in Hackney, East London, where he has lived and worked for a number of years.
Figures and interiors have long been core subjects for Dungey. He has never been afraid to paint familiar interiors many times, showing how our perception of the space and objects around us can change according to the time of day or season of the year and, of course, our own mood. Recently his focus has moved to the figure. Again, he has not been afraid to use the same model repeatedly, examining their different moods and activities and observing how they relate to their physical surroundings.
The exhibition continues to 14 June 2008. |
