My work
has developed through the process of analysing human
and animal form. I enjoy sculpting from life, working
through quick expressive sketches in clay or wax, building
up structure, layer upon layer to emulate depth and
form.
Movement and inner strength is described through line
and application of the material used. Observation of
behaviour and gesture of the subject is important in
capturing the humour and emotion which plays an important
part within each individual piece.
The final works are fired clay originals and those
sculpted in wax are usually cast as one off bronzes
through the lost wax process. Some works are also cast
as limited editions in a range of materials including
bronze, bronze resin, copper resin and iron resin.
